Eighth-inning home runs from Martin Prado and Dan Uggla off reliever Takashi Saito spoiled an otherwise pleasant Opening Day, giving the Braves a 2-1 victory Monday at Miller Park.

Left-hander Chris Narveson pitched six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and three walks while striking out five in his 2011 debut but wound up without a decision.

The Brewers' lone run came on Rickie Weeks' third home run of the season, in the third inning against Atlanta starter Brandon Beachy. The Brewers went 0-for-8 Monday with runners in scoring position and, with just five total hits,  the team batting average dipped to .212.

The series resumes Tuesday with Yovani Gallardo (0-0, 3.00) facing Derek Lowe (1-0, 0.00) at 7:10 p.m.

NOTES: Yuniesky Betancourt snapped an 0-for-11 streak with a pair of hits including a second-inning double ... Ryan Braun singled in the eighth to extend his hitting streak to four games ... The Brewers have lost five straight home games to Atlanta ... A crowd of 46,017 -- second-largest in Miller Park history -- was on-hand.
