Awkward Nerd Events (ANE), the premier host of geek-themed events in southeast Wisconsin, announces a prom event modeled after the TV show, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer."

The event takes place Saturday, May 18 at The Fitzgerald, 1119 N. Marshall St., from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. (VIP admission starts at 7:30 p.m.) The cost is $75. As for dress, 1990s prom attire is strongly encouraged.

Buffy Prom will bring to life "The Prom - Season 3, Episode 20" of the show. The Fitzgerald will be decked out in crimson and gold - the colors of the fictitious Sunnydale High - while a live band takes guests on a musical journey through the show.

“We’ve had so much fun plucking out details from The Prom episode of the show to make our prom experience as authentic for guests as possible,” states Lisa Romella, owner of Awkward Nerd Events and host of Buffy Prom. “We know partygoers will appreciate the attention to detail.”

ANE hired Chicago-based Yazz Events to curate a very specific sound for the event. “We spent a lot of time searching for a band who understood the mix of music we were looking for,” says Romella. “Yazz Events nailed it."

Prom attendees will also enjoy:

  • A Sunnydale High themed trophy case featuring items that will remind guests of specific events and episodes of the show.
  • Prom photobooth is a recreation from The Prom episode, complete with a floral arch.
  • Superlative awards like "Who’s the Class Clown?" "The most 5x5?" "Who will be our Class Protector?" All guests can enter to win an award.
  • Buffy-themed cocktails and mocktails.
