Chin's Asia Fresh, 2907 N. Oakland Ave., has closed.

According to a sign on its door, the Asian fusion restaurant closed for good yesterday. An employee who answered the phone said the franchise's owner did not want to renew the restaurant's lease, and the area's other location in Brookfield is closed, too.

She said that Chin's Madison restaurants remain open. The chain also operates a restaurant in Minnetonka, Minn.

Chin's Asia Fresh arrived in Milwaukee in spring of 2004, while the Brookfield location opened in 2002.

Also reportedly closing is the Harlequin Bakery in the Third Ward.

Owned by Sanford and Angie D'Amato and adjacent to their Coquette Cafe, at 316 N. Milwaukee St., Harlequin is slated to close on Friday.
