After nearly two years in business, Dogg Haus owner Mazen Muna has sold his one non-hot dog themed restaurant, The Burger Joint, to a Cousins Subs franchisee. The sale of the business at 1433 E. Brady St. went into effect Dec. 22.

Muna says The Burger Joint will remain open as a burger and custard restaurant for a while, but wouldn't comment on whether or not the space will eventually be converted into a Cousins Subs.

"I would like to thank all of my customers on Brady Street for a great two years, and remember, I am still on the other end of the block if you want to say hello," he says. "On the positive side of things, I can now focus more on The Dogg Haus restaurants, along with some exciting expansion that I can not yet comment on."

Muna still owns four Dogg Haus locations as well as Mazen's Hand Car Wash, the former Eastbay Hand Car Wash at 1510 N. Van Buren St., which opened in fall of 2009.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
