November is National Literacy Month and so Niche Book Bar and Rooted MKE – Milwaukee's only Black- and Woman-owned bookstores – partnered up with HYFIN, a Radio Milwaukee station, to host a Family Literacy Fair.
The free community event takes place Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Radio Milwaukee, 220 E. Pittsburgh Ave.
The fair will showcase a large selection of diverse books to browse and buy, storytime sessions, crafting opportunities and a hot chocolate station.
“We look forward to partnering with Niche Book Bar and Rooted MKE on this event. We understand the importance of creating an engaging environment for our community that is driven to allow attendees to see themselves, their stories and their dreams," says Tarik Moody, Director of Digital at Radio Milwaukee.
Local literacy institutions Joyce's House Education Center and Literary Services of Wisconsin also will be in attendance with the mission to promote literacy, education and the joy of a good book.
"We acknowledge literacy starts at home with parents and parental figures. We are excited that this event is centered around cross-generational inclusion designed to engage all readers across every age range," says Cetonia Weston, Founder of Niche Book Bar.
Molly Snyder started writing and publishing her work at the age 10, when her community newspaper printed her poem, "The Unicorn.” Since then, she's expanded beyond the subject of mythical creatures and written in many different mediums but, nearest and dearest to her heart, thousands of articles for OnMilwaukee.
Molly is a regular contributor to FOX6 News and numerous radio stations as well as the co-host of "Dandelions: A Podcast For Women.” She's received five Milwaukee Press Club Awards, served as the Pfister Narrator and is the Wisconsin State Fair’s Celebrity Cream Puff Eating Champion of 2019.
