It's a big week in music here in Milwaukee, and the OnMilwaukee.com / WMSE Local Music Podcast has you covered for names, dates, times and venues. Tune in every Tuesday for the lowdown on local music.

We start things off nice and mellow with a track from a guy who's been touring the state by bike for the better part of the past month. Peter Mulvey's been keeping a travel blog of his "Look Ma, No Gasoline!" tour on OMC, so check that out before heading out to the Miramar Theater this Saturday, Sept. 22 to see him play songs like "29 Cent Head" off "Kitchen Radio."

Julie Moffitt, a signer / songwriter you might remember from her song "Movin' on" that appeared on the OMC-D1.0 in 2005, is hitting up Points East Pub next Monday, Sept. 24 with ladies Vanessa Peters and Kira Small.

Sunday, Sept. 23 is a big, loud day for MSOE's Todd Wehr auditorium. Call Me Lightning  and Skull Time join rock forces with Red Knife Lottery and Holy Sh*t in what might be a farewell show for Skull Time, but what is definitely a CD release party for Holy Sh*t. Don't forget your earplugs.

Julie Lawrence Special to OnMilwaukee.com

OnMilwaukee.com staff writer Julie Lawrence grew up in Wauwatosa and has lived her whole life in the Milwaukee area.

As any “word nerd” can attest, you never know when inspiration will strike, so from a very early age Julie has rarely been seen sans pen and little notebook. At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee it seemed only natural that she major in journalism. When OnMilwaukee.com offered her an avenue to combine her writing and the city she knows and loves in late 2004, she knew it was meant to be. Around the office, she answers to a plethora of nicknames, including “Lar,” (short for “Larry,” which is short for “Lawrence”) as well as the mysteriously-sourced “Bill Murray.”
