Why you can’t miss it

Dr. Dog sounds like the love child of Neil Young and Paul McCartney, who then hung out with Wilco and My Morning Jacket while growing up. Ask someone to describe their genre and you will hear a mix ranging from lo-fi to indie rock.

In short, they are eclectic.

The band has been a record-making machine since its inception in Philadelphia. They’ve created an enviable back music catalogue, but their newest album, "Critical Equation," rivals them all. Before recording, Dr. Dog took a break in touring, and it seems to have served as a refresh button for their music. The band threw out its old playbook when creating this album, but they are still unmistakably Dr. Dog.

Song starter pack

The Hit: "Broken Heart"

The song might be about staying detached in love, but give it a listen and you will be anything but detached wanting to play the song on repeat.

The B-Side Beauty: "The Rabbit, the Bat, & the Reindeer"

Honestly, the name itself is good enough reason to warrant a B-Side Beauty, isn’t it? But beyond that, it is a catchy beat that gives the middle finger to an enemy while smiling.

Can’t Wait to See it Live: "Heart Killer"

From the band's new album, this song is a great representation of the refresh in Dr. Dog’s sound. It fits the bill for music that feels good.
