Dear Groom: Can you tell me more about nose waxing? And, how can I best protect myself from the sun this summer?

Making you look your best requires getting right down to the details.  And if those details include excess nose hairs, we will be the first to inform you that these need to go.

Nose waxing is a recommended service, meaning it is never asked for but we will let you know if we think you might benefit from having it done. The need for this service is situational, and depends on the man.

It is often ideal for men of all ages, and the effects are long-term.

If you are unsure as to whether you should have this done or not, you probably need it.

Waxing is much less painful than plucking your sensitive nose hairs, and it is a fairly inexpensive service.

The resistance is relatively high at first because men are afraid of the pain, but in the end it is always worth it and our clients leave satisfied.  As soon as it is discussed, men always opt for it.

Please note: We charge an extra $5 if we pull out a booger.

As for the sun protection, always remember that sun block is designed to help regulate your color so that you can go up or down in darkness depending on how you want to present yourself.  It is meant to protect your skin and give it a healthy glow.

There are many types of sun blocks available.  The easiest to use is Dermalogica's Solar Defense Booster SPF 30, but all sell well in the summertime.

The Solar Defense Booster is a moisturizer with sunscreen in it, and its molecules are tightly packed for full coverage with a high SPF.  It is a specialized and intense sun block, and offers customized sun protection with skin care benefits for complete daylight defense.  Recently a Groom client climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and was the only one out of his climbing group who did not get sun or wind-burned as a result of using this booster.

When applying, it is very important to cover your ears, face, full body, and especially your scalp.  We also recommend hats for everyone, especially if you are going to be outside for a long period of time.

The key objective in sun protection is prevention.  But if you do get burned, it is important to exfoliate your skin with a burn product before using any regular products again.  Dermalogica's after-sun repair lotion is ideal for this situation.

This particular product contains a blend of homeopathic herbs and soothing botanicals to reduce cell damage, restore moisture and replenish the skin.

Also, one of our favorite products is Sharps' Bald Head Balm that has an SPF of 15.  With this one, the name says it all.
