The Milwaukee Public Museum announced today that it has received a $1.6 million grant from the Daniel M. Soref Charitable Trust to renovate the Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater.

Due to the grant, the theater will receive 3D capability by October 2012 and will then be known as the Daniel M. Soref National Geographic Dome Theater & Planetarium. MPM has partnered with National Geographic to procure 3D content.

"As the technological hub of the Museum, it’s key that the theater feature the best systems available today. We’re proud to help make this possible and to continue our support of this vital community resource," said Audrey Strnad, trustee of the Daniel M. Soref Charitable Trust.
