Kendra Turner has a lot to teach women about their vaginas. And she does that on the daily at The V-Spot, a new wellness spa, boutique and cafe/community space located at 312 6th St. in Racine.

“We are 100 percent geared towards healthy vaginas and our main focus is on our ladies,” says Turner.

The V-Spot’s most popular service is called the Yoni Steam or V Steam. This is a centuries-old practice that gained popularity in the United States in the past decade.

During the process, women change into a gown and squat over a container of herbal-infused steam. Turner’s steam contains 13 different natural herbs. The purpose of the yoni steam is to release dead cells and bacteria from the vagina. Turner says her clients access this service looking for relief from PMS, yeast infections, fibroids, endometriosis, menopause, vaginal odors and more.

The V-Spot also offers non-invasive, temporary “butt lifts” obtained with suction cups and body or foot detox baths.

“Men appreciate the detox services too. A lot of women bring their husbands or boyfriends and they get them together,” says Turner.

Women of any age are welcome to sign up for the services, including tweens and teens if they are with an adult.

“I’ve had women in here as young as 12 or 13. Women are just not properly taught how to take care of vaginas,” says Turner.

The V-Spot also offers paint-and-sip nights as well as DIY workshops on body butter making, lip gloss making and more. It is also a rentable space for special events like birthdays, Girls Nights Out and bachelorette parties. She is also hosting a Galentine’s Day Party on Feb. 13 and 14.

Turner makes every product she uses in-house, including oils, wipes and scrubs, and all are organic. She packages and sells her goods to-go, along with sexual enhancement products and sex-positive T-shirts.

Originally, Turner had a smaller space on 46th and State Streets in Milwaukee, but moved to Racine after finding an affordable, larger space that was accessible to both her Milwaukee and Chicago clients.

“It’s the perfect space for me, right on the lakefront,” she says.

Word-of-mouth and positive reviews have garnered many booked appointments, sold-out classes and more than 60K followers on Facebook.

“The response has been phenomenal, and with all different women. Every ethnic background has come through my door,” says Turner.

Turner moved to Atlanta from Milwaukee in 2008 with her two children for a relationship that turned abusive. For refuge and healing, she started going to a Korean spa.

“I would go there to escape my reality, but also to be around the women. I watched everything they were doing and read as much as I could (often translating information from Korean to English on my phone),” she says. “These women helped me and they taught me so much.”

Turner finally left Atlanta and her abusive relationship in 2017 and moved back to Milwaukee where she continued to study and practice on friends and acquaintances. She also started motivationally speaking to groups of women in abusive relationships in Milwaukee as well as other parts of the country.

“I am extremely proud of the work I’m doing,” says Turner. “I incorporate my pain into my business, and it’s very healing for me and helps to create a safe space for everyone.”

The V-Spot is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Find out more on Facebook or Instagram.
