Work is set to begin on a new 38,000-square foot visitor center and Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum at the historic Wade House in Greenbush, near Elkhart Lake.

The new visitor center will be a year-round facility that features a multi-tiered orientation to the historic site, a large room for public and private functions, a classroom-style learning space, a museum store and cafe.

The museum will showcase horse-drawn transportation through a variety of interactive exhibits and hands-on experiences.

Construction on the new buildings is set to begin next month and is expected to be finished in time for a grand opening on June 6, 2013, the 60th anniversary of the historic site's original dedication in 1953.
