On Sept. 9, you can take a lakefront walk to help make children’s dreams come true.

The Walk For Wishes will raise funds for Make-A-Wish, which grants the wishes of children with critical illnesses.

At the moment there are more than 450 children waiting for wishes to be granted by Make-A-Wish and your steps can help. As if you needed more incentive than that, you’ll also get free admission to Festa Italiana that day at the Italian Community Center as a thank you for participating.

Registration for the Walk for Wishes is free, but you are then asked to get pledges or (and!) make a donation yourself to the cause.

Gates open at 8 a.m. for the drop-off of pledges and then at 8:45, a Kids Dash takes place. The walk begins at 9 and starting at 9:15 there will be activities, entertainment and refreshments.

You can register for the Walk for Wishes here.

The Walk also offers sponsorship opportunities for individuals, organizations and businesses, with levels ranging from $500 to $20,000. To learn more about those, go here.
