To be blunt (ahem), Milwaukee is not a weed-friendly place. It's not really our fault, because marijuana is still illegal in the entire state of Wisconsin.

Regardless, a real estate data company named Clever recently published a new study that found Milwaukee to be the 46th worst city for stoners in America.

The only cities that ranked worse than Milwaukee are Washington, D.C.. Charlotte, North Carolina, Raleigh, North Carolina and Memphis, Tenn.

According to their research, the price of weed is about 14 percent higher in our bottom 10 cities than the national average.

Denver, Col. took the top spot for easy-to-access and affordable cannabis product.

Thirty-five states have legalized marijuana, but it doesn't look like Wisconsin will be flying high anytime soon.

The criteria for the study included:

  • Legality of marijuana
  • Google Trends data for 13 common marijuana search terms
  • Price of 1 ounce of high-quality marijuana and 1 ounce of medium-quality marijuana every three months as a percentage of annual income
  • Price of 1 ounce of high-quality weed
  • Price of 1 ounce of medium-quality weed
  • Number of dispensaries per 100,000 residents within 25 miles
  • Number of head shops per 100,000 residents within 25 miles
  • Number of Taco Bells per 100,000 residents
  • Music festivals within a 100-mile radius, small concert venues per 100,000 residents, movie theaters per 100,000 residents, and number of local hiking trails
