It appears that two new Mexican restaurants are prepping to open soon in Milwaukee.

El Comedor applied for a new food dealer/restaurant license yesterday with its planned location identified as 2416 W. State St. Some may recognize that as the address of Five O'Clock Steakhouse. However, fans, employees and patrons have no need to worry about the steakhouse's fate.

According to restaurant general manager Stelio Kalkounos, El Comedor is a food truck being started by long-time Five O'Clock Steakhouse cook Natalio Perez. The steakhouse is not affiliated with the new food truck, but as a helping hand, the restaurant is offering its kitchen for Perez to cook and store food and supplies.

Meanwhile, another new Mexican-themed restaurant applied for a license yesterday, albeit for a Class B tavern license, at 1631 W. Mitchell St. The application was submitted under the name Taqueria y Pollos Al Carbon El Parian LCC, so one can assume tacos and chicken will be involved.
