Recently, I had the chance to call a bingo game at Potawatomi Bingo Casino. I was warned the bingo players sometimes get surly with "celebrity" callers because they are accustomed to a certain style of bingo calling. I went in nervous.

Potawatomi Bingo Casino is more than 750,000 square feet with about 3,100 slot machines, 100 table games, a 1,400-seat bingo hall, off-track betting and a 20-table poker room. For someone who hasn't gambled before, it might be a bit daunting to walk in the door and start pulling handles and doubling down.

Stan Stankos. C'mon -- it's a great name for a comedian. Especially a snarky smartass. Well, check out Stan live, you'll be entertained and you'll remember him. The Marquette University alum is now based in New York City writing comedy, performing a lot there and around the country, including a stop in Milwaukee on Saturday.

It seemed like a good idea -- or at least, not a horrible idea -- when our friends at Potawatomi invited us to try their new promotion, the "Home Run Challenge" at the Fire Pit Sports Bar & Grill. It's their new cheeseburger-eating contest that kicked off during All Star Week and runs through the World Series ... and it's a doozy.
