This was a record-breaking year for the Wisconsin State Fair.

Beautiful weather prompted a whopping 1,012,552 people to attend the fair over its 11-day run from Aug. 1-11. That's an increase of 10 percent over last year, and makes for the best-attended fair since 1969, although fair officials are quick to point out that truly accurate attendance numbers have only been available since 2002 with the advent of ticket-scanning technology at the gates.

Some facts and figures from the 2013 Wisconsin State Fair:

  • 31,000 patrons received discounted admission on Wells Fargo $2 Day benefiting Hunger Task Force, donating 122,500 lbs. of food and $7000 in cash donations to the Hunger Task Force.

  • Fairgoers indulged in 120,000 slides down the famous Giant Slide and over 110,000 Sky Glider trips across the Fair Park.

  • The Wisconsin Bakers Association sold over 387,000 Original Cream Puffs.
  • Over 18,000 beer donuts were consumed at the Miller Lite Sports Bar & Grill.
  • 35,000 ice cream sundaes were served by the Washington County FFA.
