Today, more than 100 million people in 80 countries bowl, but the sport has been popular here for decades.

AMF Bowling Alleys offer men's, women's, couples', mixed and juniors' leagues. There is also a Men's City Tournament, an end of season tournament and Extreme Bowling at their South Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls and Waukesha locaton. Fluorescent bowling balls and black lights are used, along with music to set the mood.

Bay View Bowl

 Bay View Bowl is a homey little place with 12 lanes and a great bar that still serves super-cheap tappers. It's neighborhood bowling and socializing at its best and is what the sport in Milwaukee is really all about.

Beloit Lanes Bowling

Bluemound Bowl

Bluemound offers no tournaments, but does offer a wide variety of some of the city's most talented leagues. There are men's, women's, juniors and scotch leagues. Scotch is teams of couples with the male rolling first ball of the frame and the female completing the frame. Bluemound also hosts a Special Olympic tournament. There's a cocktail lounge, dining facility and banquet rooms.

Brown Deer Lanes

Brown Deer Lanes has no tournaments, but lots of leagues. Child care is provided for the daytime ladies' leagues. Glow and bumper bowling is available, along with smoke-free family daytime bowling on Saturdays and Sundays. The lounge offers a full menu and there are birthday packages available and sand volleyball courts outside.

Burnham Bowl

Burnham Bowl offers a couple of large tournaments: a nine-pin scotch tournament and a New Year's Eve tournament, with 12 lanes and cash prizes. They offer leagues to couples, men, women, juniors and the visually impaired.

Classic Lanes
Classic Lanes, Greenfield

Classic Greenfield has more than 1,700 bowlers in their men's, women's, mixed and couples' leagues. There are no tournaments, but they can brag about having one of the largest senior league programs around.

Classic Lanes, Oak Creek

Classic Oak Creek is more than your average bowling alley, it's a recreation center. Besides men's, women's, couples', mixed, seniors', and daytime ladies' leagues with certified child care, there are also various volleyball leagues and bingo tournaments.

Cudahy Bowling Center

The only bowling alley in Cudahy has been around for 75 years. Every other year they sponsor a tournament for the Tri-City Bowling Association, and hold other various tournaments, including Hogs for Dogs, which the Harley Owners Association sponsors for seeing-eye dogs. There are also men's, women's, mixed, couples' and senior leagues.

Deuster's Lanes

Holler House

Holler House is the oldest working bowling alley in the city. With no automatic scoring or pin setting, this fourth-generation family-owned establishment is a true landmark. There are only two lanes, which creates an excellent atmosphere for private parties. They offer men's, women's and couples' leagues.

Koz's Mini Bowl

Koz's Mini Bowl features "duck pin" bowling: short lanes, two-pound balls and small pins. It's awesome for kids, but plenty of adults bowl here, too. Call ahead. The owners have to make sure they have enough human pinsetters to accommodate your group. This place is a Milwaukee gem.

Oriental Landmark Lanes

A staple on the fashionable East Side for over 30 years, Landmark remains a classic. The Landmark offers no tournaments, but they do have men's, women's, couples' and mixed leagues throughout the week. There are also three bars, a video arcade, eight pool tables, two air hockey tables and two foosball tables.

The Falcon offers open bowling every Wednesday night from September to May. Classic, old school lanes in a deliciously retro tavern.

Riviera Lanes

They offer a senior citizen league throughout the day, as well as men's, women's and couples' leagues. From March-June, a nine-pin tournament is held and Friday and Saturday nights, there is black-light bowling after 9 p.m.

UWM Union Bowling Alley

UWM offers a 10-lane house, open to the public. There are currently no leagues, but they do usually sponsor one tournament per month.
