Good food. Good drink. Good company. It doesn't get much better than that. And according to the OnMilwaukee.com readers, for the past several years, no restaurant in the city is serving up the combination of the three better than the Milwaukee Ale House.

The 2014 pick for Milwaukee's best bar in a restaurant, located at 233 N. Water St., started as a trailblazer in the Third Ward. Now, it's a beloved, entrenched staple of the increasingly popular scene, thanks to its tasty micro-brews, plethora of live music performances, impressive patio and satisfying menu of burgers, sandwiches, salads and other pub fare.

The Third Ward hotspot has been the king of this category since it was introduced back in the 2010 survey. However, it's a stacked field of quality competitors. Bel Air Cantina landed the silver medal merely 20 votes behind the Ale House. The rest of the pack – an impressive list including Horny Goat Hideaway, Cafe Lulu, Pizza Man and the choice of OnMilwaukee's editors, Odd Duck – all received plenty of votes as well.

The takeaway? It's a good time to be hungry and thirsty in Milwaukee.
