Spring is almost here, bringing warm weather, sunshine, flowers with green grass versus gray with more gray, baseball and outside activities again. But ... have you heard of couches? Sure, we've been bunkered inside for the past several months ... but sitting on a comfy couch with a good movie, not doing anything technically productive, sure sounds like a solid reason to keep things that way. And if that wasn't enough, here comes Netflix with a strong lineup of new arrivals to encourage my slovenliness.

Can't wait for summer blockbuster season (and whatever version of it we'll have this year thanks to the studios and the strikes)? Past box office smashes "Baby Driver," "Inside Man" and "The Matrix" will crash, chase, dodge, duck, dip, dive and doge onto the Big Red Streaming Monolith, along with retro sensations "American Graffiti" and "Smokey and the Bandit." That's right: Netflix discovered movies existed before 1980! Speaking of throwbacks, the original HBO hit "Sex and the City" will have cosmos and chat over on Netflix now – and for more laughs, comedy classics "Happy Gilmore," "Talladega Nights" and "Knocked Up" will chuckle it up on the streamer next month as well.

And remember when Will Smith won an Oscar? No, you don't – no one remembers anything that happened at that Oscars beyond The Slap – but if you'd like to refresh your memory, the Williams' sisters tennis drama "King Richard" will serve on the streaming service starting in April.

As for originals headed to Netflix, Zack Snyder's second installment of his sci-fi epic "Star Wars" "Rebel Moon" will arrive in April. According to Snyder, more people watched his movie than "Barbie" last year – which makes sense because obviously everyone had "Rebel Moon" fever in 2023. You couldn't walk down the street without someone talking about Atticus Noble! Also there's yet another season of Netflix's reality contest "The Circle," which I cannot watch without getting unwittingly astral projected back to pandemic times when it first debuted. So yes, I will likely be skipping that.

Anyways, that's just a few of the additions coming to Netflix next month, so here's the full list of movies and TV shows springing onto the service at the start of spring.

Matt Mueller Culture Editor

As much as it is a gigantic cliché to say that one has always had a passion for film, Matt Mueller has always had a passion for film. Whether it was bringing in the latest movie reviews for his first grade show-and-tell or writing film reviews for the St. Norbert College Times as a high school student, Matt is way too obsessed with movies for his own good.

When he's not writing about the latest blockbuster or talking much too glowingly about "Piranha 3D," Matt can probably be found watching literally any sport (minus cricket) or working at - get this - a local movie theater. Or watching a movie. Yeah, he's probably watching a movie.
